The Harbin Ice Festival, one of the biggest of its kind in the world, started today and will last until February 25th. Harbin is located in the northeastern part of China, in the province of Heilongjiang, and it is considered the coldest provincial capital of the country. This festival is celebrated since 1963 and each year it brings together people from all over the world to admire the huge multicolored ice sculptures, besides from taking part in many activities that take place during the festival.

This festival has the Guinness World Record for the largest snow sculpture ever made, in which more than 13.000 cubic meters of snow were used. Artists remove ice blocks directly from the Songhua River to later sculpt them and give them the desired shape. Among the most amazing creations for the festival this year is a real size railway built entirely with ice.
